تم تصميم بوابة " بوابة سلطنة عمان التعليمية " من قبل وزارة التربية والتعليم وتقوم البوابة بتسهيل وتوفير أرشيف إلكتروني مركزي من المعلومات حول الطلاب.الذين يدرسون تحت النظام التعليمي العماني في المدارس الحكومية والخاصة. تقوم البوابة التعليمية الإلكتروني بتفعيل الارتباط بين أولياء الأمور عبر شبكة الانترنت، والرسائل القصيرة ( أس إم أس)، ويمكن لأولياء الأمور والطلاب الحصول على جداول الامتحانات المطبوعة من المدرسة، ويمكن للطلاب كذلك الحصول على سلسلة من المواد التعليمية التي تعتمد على الوسائط المتعددة والموجودة بالأرشيف المركزي. وبسبب تكامل إدارة البيانات فيجب أن يكون الطالب قادراً على النقل والتحويل ما بين المدارس دون الحاجة لتقديم مستندات مكتوبة ومعالجة يدوية.
وتقوم البوابة بدعم أسلوب التعليم من بعد والذي يخدم جميع الطلاب في عمان من خلال مجموعة تقنيات اتصال بما في ذلك شبكة الانترنت والهواتف المحمولة. ونظام الإدارة المدرسية المطبق من قبل وزارة التربية والتعليم في عام 1996م تم تطبيقه في 900 مدرسة بحلول عام 2004-2005 أي أنه يغطي أكثر من 90% وتم تعزيز هذا الأسلوب بتوصيله بالكامل بنظم الوزارة ونظم المدرسة والجمهور. ويضمن ذلك أن الموظفين بوسعهم اتخاذ القرارات سريعة وفعالة بتطبيق مبادئ الجودة الشاملة في الإدارة التعليمية.

Students’ Experiences of e-learning in Higher Education helps higher education instructors and university managers understand how e-learning relates to, and can be integrated with, other student experiences of learning.
