Education Throw the Web

This course will immerse teachers in the World Wide Web, focusing on the different ways in which the Internet can support educational endeavors. Simulation, creation, situation exploration, reference,communication tutorial and drill-and-practice instructional web-based environments will be explored professional tutorial organizations and teaching enrichment tools and opportunities will also be located. In addition, locating and obtaining classroom resources from the web will be addressed. Product: A word processing document containing descriptions, links and basic evaluations, of a variety of web-based resources will be developed. Every course should fully conform to the SCORM standard.

• Locate and conduct Web based self analyses to identify personal educational needs.
• Discuss the nature of the Internet and the World Wide Web.
• Discuss how the Internet and World Wide Web can be used as different tools.
• Describe and use Web based tools for communication and research.
• Identify, categorize and discuss uses of the Web in education.
• Relate Web capabilities with your needs in the field of education.
• Discuss factors associated with the quality and credibility of a Web site.
• Locate and discuss Web based research dealing with the use of the Web to meet education related needs.
• Locate and analyze specific Web sites that, with or without modification, are capable of addressing your education related needs.
• Identify and discuss major copyright or fair use issues that will influence your selection and use of materials in your profession.
• Identify and discuss impediments to using the Web to meet education related needs and suggest means of overcoming these impediments.
• Discuss implications of using the Web to meet education related needs.
• Develop and maintain a database of Web sites relevant to your education related needs.
